Removals Kew, TW9
Your Local Kew Removal Company
Removals Kew, planned properly: K1 Removals is based in Chiswick, West London, just over Kew Bridge, and we move homes and businesses across TW9. From period houses on Kew Green and Edwardian family homes near the station to riverside flats at Kew Riverside, we plan each move around the street, the parking zone and the building. You get a free survey, a clear written quote and a careful crew. Moving across town, across the UK or abroad, the planning starts the same way.
Removals Kew: the areas we cover
Kew is in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, in the TW9 postcode. We move people in and out of every part of it:
- Kew Green and North Kew: period houses around the green and the streets between Kew Bridge and the Gardens.
- Kew Gardens station and the village: Station Parade, Royal Parade and the Edwardian roads either side of the railway, such as Lichfield Road and Burlington Avenue.
- South Kew and North Sheen: family houses and terraces off Sandycombe Road and Mortlake Road.
- Kew Riverside: modern apartment blocks by the Thames, near West Hall Road and the National Archives.
What every Kew move includes
- Free pre-move survey: in person or by video call. We check access, stairs, parking and what’s going, then give you a clear written quote with no hidden extras.
- Packing and unpacking: full or part packing with quality boxes and wrapping, or just the fragile things.
- Furniture dismantling and reassembly: beds, wardrobes and large tables taken apart, moved and rebuilt at your new home.
- Floor and door protection: we protect floors, banisters and door frames before anything is carried.
Edwardian houses and riverside flats
Many of Kew’s family homes have narrow halls, turning staircases and loft rooms, and tiled front paths that need protecting. On the survey we measure the big pieces and decide which ones need dismantling. A larger home may need packing the day before and a second vehicle, and we’d rather tell you that early than on the day.
Blocks at Kew Riverside usually have lift bookings, set move-in hours and rules about common areas, so ask your managing agent early. Our flat removals page explains how we work with lifts and stairs.
Parking suspensions in Kew
Most of Kew is covered by controlled parking zones: KA (Kew), KB (South Kew), KC (North Kew) and M8 around Station Parade and Station Approach. Hours differ. Most of KA and all of KB run Monday to Friday from 10am to noon, while KC runs every day from 10am to 4.30pm. Check the council’s zone times for your road.
Short hours don’t mean the lorry can wait all day. Kew’s streets are often full by morning, so a suspension is usually the surest way to park outside your door. Richmond Council handles these by application form and email. Its page asks for at least seven working days’ notice in one place and 10 working days at the top, and at least 10 days for more than eight bays, so we treat 10 working days as the safe minimum. Signs go up three full days before the move, and payment has to be made first.
We check your street on the survey and tell you how many bays to ask for. Our parking suspensions guide explains how it works across West London.
Kew Gardens events and Brentford match days
When there’s an event at Kew Gardens or a match at the Gtech Community Stadium across the river, Richmond Council can run the North Kew event zone, with controls from 10am to 11pm. Those days are much busier around Kew Green and Kew Road. When you give us a date, we check it against the fixtures and events and plan an earlier start if there’s a clash.
Kew Bridge and the South Circular
The A205 South Circular runs through Kew and over Kew Bridge, and it can back up at peak times. We time loading and departure around it, which matters most for moves into Chiswick, Brentford or central London.

Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you provide?
House and flat removals, small moves, packing, storage, office moves, piano removals, student moves, and long-distance and European moves.
What do you need from me before the move?
Just your moving date, both addresses and a rough idea of what’s going. If you’re packing yourself, have boxes sealed and labelled by the time we arrive, or let us do the packing for you.
Do I need a parking suspension for the van in Kew?
Often, yes, particularly near the station, around Kew Green and on streets inside a controlled parking zone. We’ll check your street and help you arrange a suspension with Richmond Council so the van can park right outside.
How much notice do you need?
As much as you can give, ideally as soon as your solicitor has an expected completion date. Fridays and month-ends book up fast, but we’ll always try to help with short-notice moves.
What happens if there's a delay on moving day?
Completion days often run late and we plan for it. We’ll keep you updated throughout and talk everything through with you in advance, so there are no surprises.
Do you offer storage near Kew?
Yes. We offer secure short and long-term storage, ideal if you’re between homes or your completion dates don’t line up.
Do you do small moves in Kew?
Yes. For smaller moves, single items or studio flats, our small-moves service is a quicker, lower-cost option. Tell us what’s going and we’ll suggest the right size van and crew.
What access do you require for your removal?
Somewhere for the van to park as close to your door as possible, and clear access inside. We’ll flag anything tricky, like stairs, lifts or narrow hallways, at the survey.
Where can I see your reviews?
Our latest Google reviews are shown on this page, and you can read more by searching for K1 Removals on Google.
Is there anything you won't move?
We can’t carry hazardous materials such as paint, fuel or gas bottles, or very large safes. If you’re unsure about an item, just ask.
